Ok my usb flash drive was driving me nuts with the bad positioning of the activity led, so I decided to mod the stick so I could see the led better.
First I cracked the thing open with a precision screwdriver, and had a good look inside.
Here is a close up of the led, the thing just above the part with the 3 on it. I have marked 1 end of it with a permanent marker so I would remember witch way around it was later. In the process of removing the led I managed to brake it off forcing me to find a different one to use.
I got the weirs attached, boy that was a pain, and tested the led I chose to replace the original one.
Ok I am almost ready to solder on the led, I cut the weirs down to length and re soldered the blue one.
After re soldering that blue wire again the led mod is ready to be installed.
That is what it looks like finished, the hot glue in the top spreading the light is a bit rough but it is not bad. |
